Welcome to The Rafters Retreat

Welcome to The Rafter’s Retreat Kitulgala, one of the most ideal destinations for water sports and adventure activities in Sri Lanka.

The Rafter’s Retreat is the perfect getaway for independent travellers, families, venturesome couples, propped individuals and adrenalin junkies.

Located in the heart of Kitulgala – 90 kilometers from Colombo (a two hour and forty-five minute drive along the banks of the Kelani River – adventure, action and a oneness with nature is a key element of this Robinson Crusoe hideaway.

The current owner of The Rafter’s Retreat Channa Perera – the epitome of what a true woodlander and aquaphile should be – started the firm in 1995, and within the span of a few years, gradually grew ;it is now a stable establishment which serves both Sri Lankan and foreign individuals across the globe. Channa is also the person responsible for introducing white water rafting to Sri Lanka in 1995, behind his ancestral house where the Kelani River flows from Adams peak to Colombo.

Apart from the adventure activities that The Rafters Retreat offers (such as white water rafting, rockpool sliding, zipline, paintball wars, ATV rides, abseiling, jungle treks and excursions to the Belilena caves), we also provide our clients with eco-lodges and eco-rooms with meals; for customers who prefer to stay the night and try to comprehend nature in its primal form.
